沖縄古武道 Okinawan Kobudo

Okinawan Kobudo refers to traditional Okinawan weapons training. It literally translates to “Old Martial Way of Okinawa.”

I teach the Kobudo classes at the Academy of Traditional Karate.

The Okinawan weapons that we train with are the Rokushaku Bo (6′ staff), Sai (three-pronged metal truncheons), Nunchaku (short flail) and Tonfa (traditional precursor to a modern police baton). We also train with Escrima Sticks (Philippine fighting sticks also called Arnis or Kali).

Stay tuned for more content as we flesh this Kobudo section out, with additional weapons techniques, drills and kata below!
